Discovering the Terroir
Changkham 2019 — The Beginning of a Journey
Changkham 2019 marks the very first expression of our brand — a refined black tea that captures the soul of Thailand’s northern highlands. Sourced from ancient wild tea trees, aged approximately 200–300 years, this tea originates from the mist-covered mountains of Chiang Mai at elevations between 1,400 and 1,500 meters. Growing freely in an untouched ecosystem, these wild trees develop deep root systems that draw nutrients from multiple soil layers. The result is a leaf rich in natural compounds, offering a multidimensional aromatic profile and a vibrant, evolving taste. Harvested by hand during the spring season — the most vital and energetic time of the year — this tea reflects the purity and intensity of its origin. We honor traditional black tea processing methods while refining each step with precision, from carefully controlled oxidation to gentle and stable drying techniques. This balance preserves the authenticity of heritage craftsmanship while enhancing clarity and depth.
Tasting Profile
With years of natural aging, this tea has developed a character that goes beyond its original form. A soft yet pronounced honeyed aroma unfolds, layered with deep woody undertones and subtle hints of fruit, all seamlessly intertwined with the essence of the forest.
On the palate, it is smooth, refined, and full-bodied. Free from bitterness and astringency, it delivers remarkable balance with a long, naturally sweet aftertaste. Highly durable in multiple infusions, the tea continues to evolve, revealing new dimensions with each brew.
Rarity & Value
As the inaugural release of the Changkham brand in 2019, this tea holds not only exceptional drinking value but also symbolic significance as the origin of our journey.
Its ability to evolve over time offers strong potential for collection, while the limited yield of wild tea material ensures its rarity.
This is more than a tea — it is a story of origin, nature, and time, captured in every leaf.
