Changkham Smokey Assam Red Tea | Rebirth of the Doi Saket Cloud Forest

Terroir & Origin

Sourced from Doi Saket (Thep Sadet) in Northern Thailand, perched between 1,300 and 1,400 meters above sea level. This rare origin is enriched by rich black humus soil, retaining the pure, untamed wilderness of primary forest. Wild ancient tea trees coexist harmoniously beneath the forest canopy, creating a balanced and untouched biodiversity.

Sacred Heritage & Ecological Conservation

Graced by historic royal visits, Doi Saket is revered locally as a sacred haven visited by deities. Historically a primary habitat for traditional Miang forest tea and later high-elevation specialty coffee, rapid regional development prompted Changkham’s mission: to strictly protect and preserve the virgin ecosystem and natural heritage of these forest lands.

Appearance

Distinctive, slender leaves with prominent golden bud development, displaying approximately 30% golden pekoe tips.

Flavor & Tasting Profile

  • Top Notes: Classic smokiness, dry longan shell
  • Heart Notes: Ripe stone fruit, roasted nuts
  • Base Notes: Noble wood, wild agarwood leaf

Although the indigenous broad-leaf variety features delicate leaf structures, it delivers abundant active compounds and prominent golden trichomes. The liquor carries a hallmark dried longan shell aroma unique to Northern Thailand. Across sequential steepings, the flavor profile transitions dynamically from structured smoke to sweet honeyed woods, embodying a profound sense of natural renewal and rebirth.
